In these days of pews emptying at alarming rates, and numbers dwindling due to so many other more exciting options on offer, perhaps a different approach is called for to rekindle interest in the kirk. Look no further...

I once suggested in a Practical Theology lecture that it might be worth posting pictures of the single people on a notice board outside a church. People laughed, I was serious. Particular churches in the city I lived in were well known for the dating that went on. Of course I then discovered in the hey dey of evening preaching there were young women who trailed churches looking for a handsome preacher. Sex sells...even in the church...

'even' in the church? Sometimes I wonder if it's more a case of 'especially' in the church...!!
